The National Labour Commission is expected to meet management of the National Identification Authority, union leaders and other stakeholders on Thursday, May 14, to resolve ongoing labour issues affecting operations at the authority.

The meeting follows the decision by workers of the NIA to embark on an indefinite strike over concerns relating to their conditions of service.

Speaking in an interview on 12live, Head of Corporate Affairs at the NIA, Williams Ampomah Emmanuel Darlas, disclosed that the commission has formally invited all parties involved, including union representatives, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission and the Ministry of Finance, for arbitration.

According to him, the meeting was initially scheduled for May 20 but has now been brought forward to Thursday to allow the commission to urgently intervene in the dispute.

Mr Darlas explained that following directives from the National Labour Commission, some NIA offices have resumed operations despite the strike action.

He apologised to members of the public who were unable to access services on Wednesday and assured customers that full operations are expected to resume after the engagement with labour authorities.

The ongoing industrial action has affected several NIA services nationwide, including Ghana Card registration and other identification-related activities.
