NPA inaugurates Steering Committee for downstream petroleum centre of excellence
The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority, Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, has inaugurated a 15-member steering committee to oversee the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.
The inauguration, held on March 31, 2026, marks a significant step toward strengthening capacity, training, and research within the industry.
The proposed Centre of Excellence is expected to serve as a strategic platform for competency-based training and applied research, aimed at enhancing professionalism and operational efficiency across the downstream petroleum value chain.
The steering committee will be chaired by the Deputy Chief Executive of the NPA, Dramani Bukari, and includes representatives from key departments within the Authority as well as major industry stakeholders.
These include the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies, the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors, the Tanker Drivers Union, and the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training.
According to the CEO, the initiative forms part of broader efforts by the NPA to build a more resilient and skilled petroleum sector capable of supporting Ghana’s economic growth.
The Centre is expected to play a key role in developing industry expertise, improving standards, and fostering innovation within the downstream petroleum industry.
