Ga Mantse visits Accra New Town collapse site, calls for strict enforcement of building regulations
The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has visited the site of the recent building collapse at Accra New Town to assess the damage and offer condolences to affected families.
During the visit, the traditional ruler expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing the loss of lives and injuries as tragic.
He extended his sympathies to bereaved families and wished victims receiving treatment a swift recovery.
The Ga Mantse used the occasion to urge regulatory bodies and relevant state institutions to strictly enforce building codes and safety standards to prevent similar occurrences.
He stressed that any structure deemed unsafe should be demolished without delay to protect lives and property.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II also called for comprehensive structural assessments of nearby buildings, particularly schools and other public facilities, to ensure they meet required safety standards.
He emphasised that safeguarding public safety must remain a priority for all stakeholders.
His visit brought comfort to residents and affected families, as rescue teams, community leaders, and government officials continue to support victims and investigate the cause of the collapse.
