President Mahama to launch Ghana’s first e-visa service on Africa Day
President John Dramani Mahama is set to officially launch Ghana’s first electronic visa (e-Visa) service as part of efforts to boost tourism, trade and investment in the country.
The launch is scheduled to take place on May 25, 2026, which marks Africa Day, at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra at 9:00 a.m.
The initiative is expected to simplify the visa application process and strengthen Ghana’s position as an attractive destination for business and tourism.
Government officials say the introduction of the e-Visa platform reflects Ghana’s commitment to digital transformation and improving access for international visitors.
As part of the new policy direction, African visitors travelling to Ghana will not be required to pay visa fees.
The move is expected to deepen regional integration, promote intra-African travel and support broader economic cooperation across the continent.
The launch forms part of the government’s wider agenda to position Ghana as a leading hub for tourism, commerce and innovation in Africa.
