The Base Movement Ghana has announced a sweeping restructuring exercise that has led to the immediate dissolution of all existing internal positions within the organisation.

In a memorandum dated May 19, 2026, the Movement stated that the decision was reached following its maiden strategic meeting held on Monday, May 18, 2026, aimed at “resetting and strengthening” its operations.

The restructuring follows the formal appointment of former independent Presidential Candidate for the 2012 and 2016 elections, Jacob Osei Yeboah, also known as JOY as Chief Operations Coordinator (COC) to represent the Movement’s founder, Dr. Oti Bonsu, on a nine-member steering committee.

According to the memorandum, the committee unanimously agreed to reengineer the structure of the Movement to improve coordination, collaboration, and operational efficiency.

Under the new arrangement, the organisation stated that it will no longer operate with political appointments or designated office holders, describing itself at this stage as a citizen-driven movement without formalised roles for individual members.

It further announced that all previously existing positions have been dissolved with immediate effect as part of what it described as a reset process designed to strengthen unity and team cohesion.

The Movement clarified that the decision does not undermine the contributions of members who have previously served in various capacities, expressing appreciation for their commitment and sacrifice toward its development.

Going forward, the Movement indicated that it will be managed by a nine-member committee operating collectively without fixed portfolios, allowing for flexible coordination and shared responsibilities where necessary.

The Committee of Coordinators said the new structure is intended to enhance competence, credibility, and impact, while encouraging members to support the reorganisation process and remain focused on the Movement’s objectives.
