Residents of Tema Newtown affected by the recent floods have received relief support from Senteo Oil Refinery following the company's donation of essential items to assist them in rebuilding their lives.

The donation, which included food items, mattresses, toiletries and other relief supplies, is aimed at easing the burden on families whose homes, property and livelihoods were affected by the flooding.

The Corporate Affairs Director of Senteo Oil Refinery, Ben Cobbla, said the gesture forms part of the company's corporate social responsibility and its commitment to the welfare of communities within its operational area.

"We have always considered ourselves partners in the development of the Tema Newtown community. This is not the first time we have extended support, and whenever the need arises, we will continue to stand with the people," Mr Cobbla said.

He noted that the refinery remains committed to undertaking similar interventions to help improve the living conditions of residents and strengthen its relationship with the community.

Addressing allegations that the refinery was constructed on a waterway and is responsible for the flooding in the area, Mr. Cobbla firmly rejected the claims.

"Senteo Oil Refinery obtained all the necessary approvals and permits from the appropriate state institutions before construction. We operate strictly within Ghana's regulatory framework, and it is therefore inaccurate to suggest that the refinery is the cause of the flooding," he stated.

He urged the public to disregard what he described as misleading claims linking the refinery to the floods, stressing that the company remains committed to responsible operations and will continue to support the Tema Newtown community.
