Tetegu footbridge in Weija-Gbawe turns into refuse dump, raising health concerns
A major pedestrian footbridge in the Weija Gbawe Municipality has been turned into a refuse dump, raising health and environmental concerns among residents and commuters who use the route daily.
The Tetegu footbridge, constructed to ensure the safe crossing of pedestrians along the busy Kasoa–Accra Highway, has become heavily littered with refuse, leaving the area unsightly and potentially hazardous.

Speaking to Class News correspondent Samuel Addo during a clean-up exercise organised by the Young Progressive Network and Precious Queens, Mr Patrick Ashford Boadu expressed disappointment at the deteriorating condition of the facility.
“We need to take responsibility for keeping our environment clean,” he said. “We urge the Weija Gbawe Municipal Assembly to deploy its taskforce to monitor the area and catch offenders.”
Also addressing the media, President of Precious Queens, Elizabeth Penuku, appealed for logistical support to sustain sanitation efforts at the site.
“We need support from the Assembly and sanitation agencies to maintain this area,” she said.
