Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang celebrates Women on International Women’s Day 2026
On International Women’s Day 2026, Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has extended heartfelt greetings to all women and girls in Ghana and across the globe, celebrating their resilience, achievements, and critical contributions to national development.
In her message, the Vice President highlighted Ghana’s commitment to the theme “Giving to Gain,” noting concrete steps such as ensuring women occupy at least 30% of government appointments.
She stressed that women serving as Ministers and leading key public institutions enrich decision-making and bring a broader range of perspectives to policy formulation, benefiting the entire nation.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang further emphasised that empowering women extends beyond government.
In business, academia, civil society, creative industries, and faith leadership, creating opportunities for women strengthens leadership capacity and contributes to more inclusive governance.
She described the empowerment of women not as charity, but as a strategic investment in a stronger, more confident Ghana.
The Vice President concluded her message by wishing all women a Happy International Women’s Day, encouraging continued progress toward gender equality and meaningful participation in national development.
