Vice President in Wa for official visit and to engage traditional authorities
Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has arrived in Wa for a series of official engagements, including participation in today's Sankana community festival.
She was received on arrival by the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo, the Upper West Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing, and members of the Regional Coordinating Council.
As part of her visit, the Vice President paid a courtesy call on the Wa Naa, Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo VI, at his palace to formally inform him of her presence in the region.
During the meeting, chiefs and elders of the Wa Traditional Area welcomed the Vice President and presented a number of development concerns for government’s consideration.
They also expressed appreciation for ongoing road projects in the area.
In response, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang thanked the Wa Naa and the traditional leadership for their warm reception and acknowledged the issues raised, assuring them that their concerns would receive attention.
She further encouraged continued support for government initiatives aimed at driving development and improving livelihoods across the region.
The Vice President is expected to participate in several activities during her visit, including the Sankana community festival.
