Dr Isaac Ofori Tieku, personal physician to the late Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, says those organising the funeral had prior intelligence about attempts to stop the movement of the Kristo Asafo founder's body and planned accordingly.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Chief Jerry Forson on Accra FM's Ghana Yensom morning show, Dr Ofori Tieku said the organisers became aware that some people intended to frustrate their plans.

He bemoaned he had hoped for unity in the family and church to give the religious leader a befitting burial but discovered there were ulterior motives on the part of some people. 

"All we wanted was for love and unity to bid our father farewell but we realised some people among us had different intentions," he said.

According to him, the organisers of the events which began yesterday, July 30, were aware of the alleged plans of the opposing faction before moving the body from the Transitions Funeral Home in Accra.

"We heard of all their plans and schemes, and we knew exactly what to do for our father," he said.

Dr Ofori Tieku explained that a specially prepared Kantanka ambulance, which was intended to publicly transport Apostle Safo's mortal remains, was instead used as a decoy while another vehicle secretly collected and conveyed the body to the Apostle Kwadwo Safo Centre at Gomoa Mpota.

He said although the opposing faction had intelligence and attempted to foil their plans, the organisers' own intelligence enabled them to successfully transport the body to the funeral grounds.

The comments come after a white Toyota Hilux truck was spotted at the Apostle Kwadwo Safo Centre, Mpota, carrying what had the form of a casket and was believed to be containing the body of the Kristo Asafo founder.
