The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Weija-Gbawe, Felix Odartey Lamptey, has called on residents to promote cultural tolerance and unity to ensure peaceful coexistence in the municipality.

He made the call at the launch of the Assembly’s Homowo Festival Football Gala and Tourism Festival.

Mr Odartey Lamptey said residents come from different cultural backgrounds and traditions but remain one people, stressing the need to embrace diversity as a means of strengthening social cohesion.

“We are all one people, and embracing cultural tolerance and unity will promote peaceful coexistence,” he stressed.

The MCE also highlighted the potential of local tourism to drive economic development in the municipality.

He said showcasing the area’s cultural heritage, tourist sites and traditional festivals could attract more visitors, create business opportunities for residents and boost the local economy.

He urged residents and other stakeholders to support initiatives aimed at promoting the municipality’s tourism potential and use cultural celebrations such as Homowo to strengthen unity and advance community development.
