A/R: 4 arrested over robbery attack on okada rider at Fomena
The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has arrested four suspects in connection with a violent robbery attack on an okada rider at Fomena in the Ashanti Region.
The arrests were carried out by officers under the Ashanti South Regional Police Command following an incident that occurred on February 22, 2026.
According to police, the victim reported to the Fomena Police Station with a machete wound on his left toe after he was attacked while returning from Old Ayaase, where he had dropped off a passenger.
He told officers that about 10 tricycle riders barricaded a section of the road with their tricycles and other objects before ambushing him.
The group allegedly assaulted him and inflicted the injury before bolting with his unregistered Haojin motorbike, valued at ¢15,000.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, police launched an operation within the township and arrested four suspects the same day.
The suspects were identified as Adom Peter, Abdul Zakari, Andy Benjamin, and one juvenile offender, who is being handled in accordance with juvenile justice procedures.
During the operation, officers also retrieved the victim’s stolen Haojin motorbike, a machete believed to have been used in the attack, a tricycle machine, and its ignition keys.
The regional command has assured the public of its continued commitment to protecting lives and property and urged residents to provide timely and credible information to aid ongoing crime prevention efforts.
Investigations into the case are ongoing, police added.
