Inspector Hance Atubra of the Tarkwa Divisional Headquarters has been promoted to the rank of Chief Inspector by the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, for his role in saving lives during a fire outbreak at Aboso in the Western Region.

The fire broke out on August 26, 2026, engulfing shops at the Aboso Main Lorry Station and destroying property.

Inspector Atubra was the first police officer to arrive at the scene. He immediately assisted people trapped in the affected area and helped evacuate them to safety.

His actions were commended by witnesses, leading to a recommendation for his promotion in recognition of his courage, quick response and efforts to save lives and property.

The Police Administration said the promotion reflects its commitment to recognising and rewarding officers who demonstrate exceptional courage, dedication and commitment to duty.
