E/R: Police restore calm in Akyem Oda after violent cutlass clash
The Ghana Police Service has restored calm at the New Station area in Akyem Oda in the Eastern Region following a violent clash involving a group of young men wielding cutlasses.
According to a statement issued by the Eastern South Regional Police Command, the incident came to the attention of the police after videos circulated on social media showing the young men attacking one another openly with cutlasses.
Police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene to contain the situation and restore order.
The statement revealed that two suspects were later located at separate health facilities receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the clash.
The statement was signed by DSP David Fianko-Okyere of the Public Affairs Unit of the Eastern South Region.
One of the suspects, identified as George Okyere, aged 30, was found at the emergency ward of the Oda Jubilee Hospital with a deep cut on his forehead and a severed finger.
Another suspect, Paul Pascalele, was receiving treatment at the Akyem Oda Government Hospital for a deep cut on his right hand.
Police also confirmed the arrest of Evans Adayele, who was reportedly apprehended at his hideout to assist with investigations.
The Regional Police Command said efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other individuals connected to the incident for prosecution.
