N/R: IGP orders probe into alleged assault on artist Ibrahim Mahama in Tamale
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh-Yohuno has directed the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) to investigate the alleged assault of renowned Ghanaian visual artist, Ibrahim Mahama, in Tamale, Northern Region.
According to a police statement, the PPSB probe will run concurrently with a criminal investigation already underway by the Northern Regional Police Command.
Authorities say findings from both investigations will be made public in due course.
The directive follows earlier confirmation by the Northern Regional Police Command that it had commenced investigations into reports that the artist was assaulted by some police officers in Tamale.
The Command assured the public of its commitment to transparency and accountability, noting that updates on the progress of the case will be communicated as investigations proceed.
