Police arrest suspect over alleged robbery, rape and assault in Koforidua
The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the alleged assault, robbery and rape of a woman at Okorase Junction 3 in Koforidua.
The suspect, identified as Isaac Anim, was arrested following an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID).
According to the police, investigations began on 15 June 2026 after the female victim reported that she had been assaulted, robbed and raped at Okorase Junction 3.
Police said the suspect allegedly stole the victim's iPhone 11, US$200 in cash and a pack of food before sexually assaulting her and fleeing the scene.
The suspect was arrested at his hideout in Awukugwa, near Adukrom, on Friday, 26 June 2026.
Police said a search conducted during the arrest led to the recovery of a mobile phone which the suspect had allegedly used with the victim's SIM card to fraudulently withdraw money from a mobile money (MoMo) vendor.
The suspect has since been handed over to the Eastern Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) for further investigations.
Police said six additional cases involving alleged robbery, rape and the defilement of a 10-year-old girl in Okorase have also been linked to the suspect.
The Eastern Regional Police Command said it remains committed to protecting the lives and property of the public while investigations continue.
