The Upper West Regional Police Command has intercepted 192 compressed parcels of suspected cocaine and arrested two people in connection with an alleged narcotics trafficking network.

The suspects are 26-year-old Abdulai Isaac, a driver’s mate, and Iddrisu Kamaldeen.

Police said they received intelligence about the transportation of suspected cocaine from Kumasi to Wa through the Bole enclave and mounted surveillance along the route.

Abdulai Isaac was intercepted at the ESP Bus Station in Wa on September 6, 2026. A search of his backpack uncovered the 192 compressed parcels of a substance suspected to be cocaine.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Iddrisu Kamaldeen, whom Police identified as one of the suspected customers.

According to Police, Kamaldeen admitted to being a customer of Abdulai Isaac.

On September 14, Police officers and officials from the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) in Wa conducted a field test on the seized substance in the presence of the two suspects, their family members and Police officers.

The Police said the test returned positive for cocaine.

The two suspects have been remanded and are expected to reappear before the court on October 9, 2026.

Investigations are continuing to identify and arrest other persons allegedly linked to the suspected narcotics trafficking network.
