Police interdict officer over death of 23-year-old Ivan Baidoo
The Ghana Police Service has interdicted General Corporal Robert Koranteng over the death of 23-year-old Ivan Baidoo on the Tema Motorway.
The incident occurred on August 27, 2026.
The police said the officer was identified and arrested following initial investigations into a viral video concerning the incident. He is currently in custody.
The Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is investigating the circumstances surrounding Ivan Baidoo’s death.
The Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) has also been tasked with investigating the conduct of General Corporal Koranteng.
The police said the investigation is being conducted to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
It assured the public that “appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigations.”
The service said the matter “is being thoroughly investigated” and assured the public that the necessary steps would be taken following the investigations.
