Two watchmen arrested over alleged defilement of 14-year-old SHS student in Bolgatanga
The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested two security men for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old student of Bolgatanga Girls’ Senior High School.
The suspects have been identified as 38-year-old Elvis Adongo and 72-year-old Adams Nyaaba Iddrisu.
According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that the student went to the school’s security room to charge her tablet.
While there, Adams Nyaaba Iddrisu, a 72-year-old security man, allegedly forced her and had sexual intercourse with her in the security room.
Further investigations revealed that Elvis Adongo was also allegedly involved in sexual activity with the student.
The Police said that when school authorities questioned Mr Adongo, “he admitted to having sexual relations with the victim.”
A police medical form was prepared to obtain medical confirmation of the incident.
Both suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and will be put before court soonest, the police said.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) said preliminary reports indicate that the student is a special needs student who is on medication.
