The Member of Parliament for Atwima Nwabiagya North in the Ashanti Region, Frank Yeboah, has distributed thousands of school supplies worth GHS 400,000 to basic education graduates entering Senior High School (SHS) across the constituency.

​The donation, aimed at easing financial pressure on families ahead of the new academic year, included 1,000 chop boxes, 1,000 metal trunks, 10,000 exercise books, and 3,000 notebooks. 

Under the initiative, each beneficiary received a trunk, a chop box, 10 exercise books, and three notebooks.

​After an unexpected turnout of 60 unregistered students, Mr Yeboah pledged to procure additional items to cover the remaining group.

​Speaking at the distribution event in Atwima Koforidua, Mr Yeboah highlighted the financial burden parents face at the start of every academic term.

​"Education is the backbone of every nation and its economy," Mr Yeboah said, highlighting, "We appreciate that parents and guardians go through hardship during school re-openings. This is my small way of relieving that suffering."

​He urged students to stay focused on their studies, emphasising that material support must be matched by individual effort.

​"The trunk may carry your clothes, the chop box may carry your food, and the exercise book may support your studies. But it's only determination and hard work that can carry you to success," he advised, calling on the students to remain disciplined and hardworking to become productive citizens.

​Alongside the material donation, Mr Yeboah outlined his "Agenda 10-10-10" tertiary education initiative, a 10-year project designed to sponsor the university education of 10 medical doctors and 10 engineers from the constituency.

​According to the MP, any student from the constituency who secures admission to pursue medicine or engineering at the university level will receive a full scholarship. 

He noted that four students — two medical and two engineering candidates — are already benefiting from the scheme alongside others receiving partial support.

​Parents of the beneficiary students praised the initiative and expressed gratitude for the supplies, describing the gesture as unprecedented in the constituency.

​"We have not seen this before; it has never happened before," said the mother of one beneficiary, stating, "We appreciate what he has done and ask God's blessing upon him to continue and do even more."

​Another parent, Kofi Sarkodie, noted the relief the items provided to families facing economic hardship.

​"It is not easy to buy trunks and chop boxes for 1,000 students. Trunks and chop boxes can prevent some parents from sending their wards to school. The MP has done well," he said.
