Junior High School students in Bosomponso, a community in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region, can now study in a proper learning environment following the official commissioning of a new 3-unit classroom block by the District Assembly.

The facility replaces a makeshift structure, previously an abandoned pigsty, where students formerly took lessons. 

The old classroom had a leaking roof, wooden stands for chalkboards, and a severe lack of furniture, often forcing the school to close early whenever it rained.

​The District Chief Executive (DCE), Caesar Ofosu Acheampong, together with the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, led the official handover of the classroom block. 

The project fulfills a key promise made by the administration during the 2024 election campaign.

​Speaking at the event, Mr Acheampong noted that discovering students learning in a pigsty during the campaign trail was deeply concerning, prompting immediate action once the administration took office.

​Expressing optimism for further developments, the Regional Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to addressing additional community needs, including connecting Bosomponso to the national power grid and upgrading the road network.

The exercise formed part of a broader infrastructure handover in the district, which also saw the commissioning of a separate 3-unit classroom block at the Akomadan Presbyterian Junior High School and a 10-seater public toilet facility at Akomadan Frafraline.

​Students expressed widespread relief and gratitude during the event.

"Prior to this building, our books and bags got soaked whenever it rained," a female JHS student said, stating, "We are excited to finally have a proper classroom block."

​Another JHS 2 student highlighted the impact on their learning environment: "We didn't even have proper furniture to sit on where we were studying. We are grateful to the DCE for coming to our rescue."
