The Ministry of Education has condemned the violent incident at Obuasi Senior High Technical School, describing the attack as criminal and directing the Ghana Education Service (GES) to immediately investigate the matter.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 5, the ministry said it "unequivocally condemns the violent incident at Obuasi Senior High Technical School."

It described the attack as "reprehensible and criminal," stressing that "such conduct has no place within Ghana's educational institutions and will not be tolerated under any circumstances."

The ministry disclosed that the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has instructed the Ghana Education Service to "immediately take up the matter, commence a full investigation into the disturbance, and apply the appropriate disciplinary sanctions against all persons found culpable, in accordance with the laws and regulations governing the education sector."

The statement further reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to discipline in schools, saying it remains the foundation of quality education.

It added that the ministry would continue to work closely with the Ghana Education Service and other relevant state institutions to uphold discipline, safeguard school leaders and students, and ensure that schools remain safe environments for teaching and learning.
