The Minority in Parliament has condemned the attempted arrest of their member, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, by EOCO officers today within the precincts of the Accra High Court.

Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South and currently the defence counsel for a nurse named Salomey Awity Bafoh accused of facilitating an alleged illegal action by a social media sensation dubbed "Ghana Jollof", was present at the High Court as he sought bail for his client.

The court adjourned the bail hearing to tomorrow as the State Attorney raised objections and requested time to respond to the bail request before the court.

While lawyer Baffour Awuah together with other legal representatives was exiting the court premises, a woman who identified herself as an officer of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) accosted him in an atempt to arrest him.

The lawyer refused the arrest, claiming no official invite has been forwarded to him by the EOCO.

"Nobody has sent me a letter...You need me at EOCO for what?", he fumed.

The lawyer's refusal of the arrest turned confrontational as a female officer forcibly blocked his way to his car.

"So, now you want to intimidate the lawyers in this matter?", the Manhyia South MP queried.

Reacting to the incident, the Minority, in a press conference led by their leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, condemned the EOCO's act and called on the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, to address the issue.

"Not many people get a second chance and I address Mr. Preu sident as a father who is for all of us. Mr. President, reflect on your legacy. You are left with almost just two years; you are just two years from exiting office. The question is what would you tell Ghanaians when you are in your quiet moment. Can you proudly say the second opportunity you were given by God, you really used that second chance which is rare to transform your country. Mr. President, watch these excesses...Enough!"

Afenyo-Markin admonished the President to "bring your appointees to order. Call them to order. This is not the Ghana we want".
