The Ghana Education Service (GES) has condemned the assault on the Headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS), Mr Abdulai Zakaria, describing the incident as unacceptable and pledging to take firm action against those responsible.

In a statement, GES said the headmaster was attacked by a mob of students, leaving him injured.

"The incident, which resulted in injuries to the Headmaster, is deeply regrettable and completely unacceptable. Violence, intimidation, and acts of indiscipline have no place in our schools," the statement said.

GES said it has begun investigations into the incident in collaboration with the security agencies to establish the full facts.

It warned that anyone found to have participated in or instigated the attack would face severe sanctions in line with the law and the GES Code of Conduct.

The Service also urged students to use the appropriate channels to address grievances instead of resorting to violence or misconduct.

It further appealed to parents, guardians, community leaders and other education stakeholders to support efforts to promote discipline, respect for authority and peaceful coexistence in schools.

The statement was signed by the Head of Public Relations at GES, Daniel Fenyi.
