Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has announced that Ghana will soon roll out a revised national curriculum that will introduce robotics, electronics, artificial intelligence (AI) and coding at the basic school level.

Speaking at the commissioning of a 200-bed hostel at Wisconsin International University College in Feyiase, Mr Iddrisu said he expects to receive the final report of the National Curriculum Review Committee within the next week.

According to the Minister, the revised curriculum is intended to strengthen digital literacy from the foundational level while placing greater emphasis on ethical values in early childhood education.

He said building the capacities of young people in technology, research and entrepreneurship is essential to the country's future development.

Mr Iddrisu also urged tertiary institutions to align their academic programmes with Ghana's workforce and economic needs, warning against drifting from their core mandates.

He called on higher education institutions to embrace artificial intelligence in teaching and learning in ways that improve academic outcomes and productivity.

The Minister also expressed concern about rising indiscipline in schools, particularly at the senior high school level.

Referring to a recent incident at Prempeh College, he said the removal of CCTV cameras installed by the school's Old Boys Association highlighted the need to address student misconduct.

Mr Iddrisu said acts of indiscipline and vandalism would not be tolerated as the government pursues wider reforms in the education sector.
