The Government of Ghana has disbursed GH¢537 million to support the implementation of its flagship No Fees Stress policy aimed at eliminating financial barriers to tertiary education for parents and students across the country.

The payment is expected to facilitate the rollout of the initiative which seeks to ease the cost burden associated with accessing higher education and ensure that qualified students are not denied admission due to financial constraints.

The No Fees Stress policy is one of the government's key education interventions designed to improve access to tertiary education by covering approved academic fees for eligible first-year students in public tertiary institutions.

Government officials say the release of the GH¢537 million demonstrates its commitment to expanding educational opportunities and promoting equitable access to higher education, regardless of a student's financial background.

The policy is also expected to provide relief to parents and guardians struggling with the rising cost of tertiary education while encouraging more young Ghanaians to pursue higher learning.

The government has maintained that investing in education remains a key priority and believes the implementation of the No Fees Stress policy will contribute to the country's human capital development and long-term economic growth.
