The Ghana School Feeding Programme has recorded significant improvements following the introduction of the School Connect System, a digital platform designed to strengthen monitoring, accountability, and the efficient delivery of meals to schoolchildren across the country.

On Wednesday, the National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme, Hajia Fati Forgor, joined officials from the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) on a monitoring visit to Kwabenya Atomic 3 and Atomic 4 Primary Schools to assess the implementation of the system.

The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to evaluate the effectiveness of the School Connect System, which was recently integrated into the School Feeding Programme to improve data management, enhance transparency and ensure efficient service delivery.

Following the assessment, the delegation expressed satisfaction with the progress made, commending the noticeable improvements in the implementation of the programme. The partners praised the School Connect System for enhancing oversight and strengthening the overall management of the school feeding initiative.

The Ghana School Feeding Programme reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with development partners such as the World Food Programme and KOICA to improve service delivery and ensure that pupils nationwide continue to receive quality, nutritious meals through an efficient and accountable feeding system.

Country Director at World Food Program (WFP) Aurore Rusiga lauded the standard of meals served under the Ghana School Feeding Programme and commended the School Connect initiative for improving transparency and accountability in the programme.

She, however, urged stakeholders to further enhance the nutritional quality of the meals to ensure pupils receive healthier and more balanced diets.

Also, the Country Director for Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Donhyun Lee, who are the new partners to the programme, also commended progress made so far and assured Ghana government of its continued support to see the program succeed. 

“I had a meeting with the head of teachers of the school and she has some challenges regarding this project. And I’m going back to the office and will carefully look at the challenges and how to help,” he said.
