TVET staff union declares strike over unresolved concerns
Members of the Ghana TVET Service (GTVETS) under the Public Services Workers’ Union (PSWU) have declared an indefinite strike action effective March 24, 2026, citing unresolved concerns with management.
In a notice addressed to the Director-General of the Ghana TVET Service and dated March 13, 2026, the union directed all its members to lay down their tools and withdraw their services until their grievances are addressed.
The union referenced an earlier letter dated March 10, 2026, stating that the decision to strike follows management’s failure to engage meaningfully on issues raised by members.
According to the statement, the action has become necessary due to the lack of concrete and satisfactory steps taken by management to resolve the concerns.
Despite the strike, the union indicated its willingness to engage in dialogue, urging management to treat the issues with urgency and seriousness.
Members have been instructed to comply strictly with the directive and remain united, while also being encouraged to submit any additional grievances for collective consideration.
The union further advised members to remain calm, disciplined, and law-abiding throughout the period of the strike. It also warned against any form of intimidation or victimisation, urging members to report such incidents to union leadership.
The notice was signed by Seth Botchway, Divisional IMC Secretary of the PSWU.
