Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing girl-child education, emphasising that strong tertiary education must be built on a solid secondary school foundation.

She made the remarks while addressing the 80th Anniversary Speech and Prize Giving Day of Holy Child School in Cape Coast.

The Vice President said preparing young people for the future requires more than equipping them with technological and intellectual skills, stressing that values and integrity are equally essential.

According to her, intellectual ability without integrity is fragile and incomplete, and therefore, education must focus on building character alongside academic excellence.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang noted that investing in girls’ education remains central to the government’s development agenda, as empowering young women through education contributes significantly to national progress.

She commended the school for its longstanding contribution to quality education and for nurturing generations of young women who have excelled in various fields.

The Vice President also encouraged students to remain disciplined, pursue excellence in their studies and uphold values that will guide them in their future endeavours.
