Credit-depleting metres: Energy Minister visits Ghana Standards Authority energy metre testing laboratory
The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has paid a working visit to the Energy Metre Testing Laboratory of the Ghana Standards Authority as part of efforts to strengthen quality assurance in Ghana’s power sector.
He was accompanied by the Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission of Ghana, Ms. Adwoa Serwaa Bondzie, and other officials from the Ministry.
During the visit, the delegation observed first-hand the testing procedures undertaken to ensure the accuracy, safety and reliability of energy metres used nationwide.
Dr Jinapor commended the technical team at the laboratory for what he described as their precision, professionalism and dedication to upholding national standards.
He noted that strict quality control measures are essential to building trust between consumers and utility providers.
“Quality standards are not just technical requirements; they are the backbone of trust and fairness between consumers and utility companies,” he stated.
The Minister emphasised the need for strong collaboration among sector institutions to safeguard consumer interests and reinforce public confidence in Ghana’s energy systems.
