The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced planned and emergency maintenance works across parts of the country for Monday, April 20, 2026, as efforts continue to resolve power outages caused by technical faults over the weekend.

According to the company, the maintenance exercises are aimed at improving service reliability and addressing urgent network challenges, with outages expected in selected areas during the scheduled periods.

In the Western Region, a planned maintenance operation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., affecting communities including Agona township, GREL, Ewusiejoe, Bokoro, Hotopo, Butre, and surrounding areas. ECG said the five-hour outage will allow engineers to undertake essential infrastructure upgrades.

Meanwhile, in the Greater Accra Region (Accra West operational area), an emergency maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., impacting McCarthy Hill, Weija Junction, Pambros, White Cross, Sampa Valley, and nearby communities.

The company indicated that the intervention is necessary to address urgent faults and prevent further deterioration in service delivery.

The scheduled works follow multiple unplanned outages recorded on Sunday, April 19.

In the Tema area, a faulty transformer at Nungua Barrier caused power disruptions in surrounding communities, while in the Ashanti Region, a fallen conductor at Anomangye near Japan House led to outages in areas including Mpatasie and Tarkwa Maakro.

ECG stated that engineers were promptly deployed to the affected locations and are working to restore supply.

The company has apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused by both the planned and unplanned outages, assuring the public that the maintenance exercises are critical to strengthening the power distribution network and ensuring more stable electricity supply in the long term.
