Ahiagbah defends NPP’s record on Afari Military Hospital
The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has responded to comments by former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, regarding the Afari Military Hospital project.
In a statement, Mr Ahiagbah said Mr Agyapong's claim that the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration did no work on the hospital project was inaccurate and did not reflect the facts surrounding the project's progress.
According to him, the Afari Military Hospital was about 40 per cent complete when the NPP administration took office in 2017.
He stated that by January 7, 2025, the project had reached 98 per cent completion under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration, representing an additional 58 per cent progress.
Mr Ahiagbah said civil works on the core hospital facility stood at 97.5 per cent completion as of September 2024, while architectural works, roads and landscaping were 87 per cent, 80 per cent and 77 per cent complete respectively.
He added that only about two per cent of the project remained outstanding at the time of the transition, estimating the cost of the remaining work at approximately $500,000.
Mr Ahiagbah argued that the current administration only needs to complete the remaining work and operationalise the facility.
He further maintained that public discussions on the project should be guided by facts rather than political claims.
The statement was issued by Richard Ahiagbah, Director of Communications of the NPP.
