Free glaucoma screening to be launched at Cocoa Clinics for World Glaucoma Week 2026
Health authorities at Cocoa Clinic are encouraging the public to take advantage of free eye screening services being offered atall Cocoa Clinics across the country as part of activities marking World Glaucoma Week 2026.
The initiative aims to raise awareness about Glaucoma, a serious eye condition that can lead to permanent blindness if not detected and treated early.
As part of the campaign, free glaucoma screening and public education programmes are being organised at Cocoa Clinics to encourage early detection and prevention.
The screening services are available at Cocoa Clinic facilities in Accra, Kumasi, Tafo, Debiso and Kejebril.
Medical professionals involved in the exercise say glaucoma often develops silently without noticeable symptoms in its early stages, making routine eye examinations critical in preventing vision loss.
They are therefore urging members of the public to prioritise regular eye checks, noting that early diagnosis can significantly improve treatment outcomes and help preserve sight.
The free screening campaign forms part of broader efforts during World Glaucoma Week to educate the public on eye health and reduce cases of preventable blindness in Ghana.
