Lordina Mahama joins Melania Trump at 2-day global summit on child online safety in Washington
First Lady Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama is in Washington, DC, at the invitation of the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, to participate in the Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit.
The two-day summit, convened by Mrs Trump, brings together first spouses from around the world to explore strategies aimed at ensuring a safer and more equitable digital environment for children.
In a commitment statement issued ahead of the summit, Mrs Mahama reaffirmed Ghana’s dedication to protecting children in the digital age.
She emphasised that technology must serve as a tool for empowerment rather than a source of harm.
“Ghana stands ready to ensure technology becomes a force for empowerment, not endangerment, for every child. Our children’s future is our shared moral duty and generational responsibility,” she stated.
The summit is expected to foster international collaboration and policy dialogue focused on safeguarding children online while promoting inclusive digital opportunities.
