Minerals Commission suspends online Mineral Rights applications
The Minerals Commission of Ghana has announced a temporary suspension of all new mineral rights applications via its online Mineral Cadastre Portal.
Effective March 20, 2026, the portal will be closed to applications for Small-Scale, Industrial Minerals, and Large-Scale mineral rights.
The suspension will remain in effect until June 19, 2026.
The commission explained that the closure is necessary to conduct a comprehensive clean-up of the Mineral Cadastre Register and to process existing backlogs, including pending and unprocessed applications.
This initiative forms part of the commission’s ongoing efforts to strengthen fairness, transparency, and accountabilityin the management and processing of mineral rights in Ghana.
The public, prospective applicants, and industry stakeholders are advised to take note of the directive and cooperate accordingly.
The commission expressed regret for any inconvenience this temporary measure may cause and thanked the public for its continued support as it works to enhance the integrity and efficiency of Ghana’s mineral licensing system.
