The Minority Caucus in Parliament has held a strategic workshop in Accra aimed at reviewing its parliamentary approach and strengthening coordination ahead of the next legislative session.

Addressing members at the gathering, Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh, declared that the governing National Democratic Congress had lost public confidence far quicker than expected, insisting that the New Patriotic Party must begin positioning itself aggressively to reclaim power in 2028.

According to Annoh-Dompreh, the Minority’s core mandate remains holding government accountable through rigorous scrutiny of policies, challenging questionable decisions, and exposing what he described as hidden wrongdoings within the administration. He urged MPs to intensify pressure on the government whenever shortcomings are identified and to fully utilise parliamentary procedures to bring national concerns to the forefront.

He explained that the workshop was intended to sharpen the caucus’ communication strategy, align parliamentary activities, and improve responsiveness to issues affecting Ghanaians. He stressed that many citizens were increasingly looking to the NPP as a credible alternative.

“The NPP is capable to deliver to the good people of Ghana. Let’s believe in ourselves. We cannot sit back while the cocoa farmer is wailing, teachers are crying, nurses are wailing, public servants are crying, market women are crying — this is the reflection of the scam of the NDC government,” he stated.

Annoh-Dompreh further argued that the 2028 election presents a critical opportunity for the NPP to return to government, warning against complacency and internal divisions that could weaken the party’s chances.

He called for unity and discipline within the party, emphasizing that the expectations of many Ghanaians depended on the NPP presenting a strong, coherent, and trustworthy alternative.

“The NPP is a party of development and its culture and tradition has proven to be effective and capable in turning round the fortunes of our country. Victory is in our hands!” he declared.

The workshop brought together Minority MPs to deliberate on legislative priorities, constituency engagement, and strategies for strengthening parliamentary oversight of the executive arm of government. Participants were encouraged to apply lessons from the session in both Parliament and their constituencies as the opposition intensifies preparations toward the next general elections.
