Oti Bonsu, leader and founder of the Base Movement (Ghana First), has called on Ghanaian youth to rise and “save mother Ghana” from what he described as the long-standing dominance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

His call follows a large turnout at the official unveiling of the Movement’s headquarters in Tesano, where supporters gathered to show their backing for the new political group.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Bonsu stressed the need for a shift in leadership, urging Ghanaians to consider electing a business-minded individual to lead the country.

He argued that both major parties have failed to provide adequate opportunities and solutions for the youth.

He stated that the future of Ghana depends on the active participation of young people in shaping the country’s political direction, and encouraged them to rally behind the Base Movement to “attain freedom” and drive national transformation.

The launch marks the Movement’s formal entry into Ghana’s political space, positioning itself as an alternative to the existing two-party system.

Dr Bonsu also urged members of the Movement to remain peaceful and intensify efforts to mobilise more supporters.
