Ethiopia will host the second edition of the African Political Parties Summit (APPS) from November 5 to 7, 2026, in Addis Ababa.

The summit is being organised by the Africa Governance Centre (AGC) in collaboration with the Government of Ethiopia, under the patronage of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali.

It will be held under the theme, “Governing for Growth: Political Parties as Architects of Africa’s Economic Future.”

The summit will bring together political party leaders and representatives, policymakers, parliamentarians, governance institutions, development partners, academics, civil society organisations, youth leaders and private sector actors.

Discussions will focus on the role of political leadership and political parties in promoting economic transformation, regional integration, industrialisation and inclusive development across Africa.

The 2026 summit will build on the inaugural APPS held in Accra in 2025, which resulted in the Accra Declaration.

Organisers said the Addis Ababa meeting will continue discussions on the role of political parties in Africa’s governance and development and is expected to produce an Addis Ababa Declaration outlining new commitments and priorities.

The summit will also feature the African Youth in Politics Forum (AYPF) and the Africa Women Political Leadership Summit (AWPLS).

The two platforms will focus on increasing the participation and representation of young people and women in political leadership and promoting inclusive governance.

The outcomes of the three platforms will feed into the Addis Ababa Declaration.

The organisers said the summit is also aligned with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and its vision of a prosperous, integrated and peaceful Africa.
