GA/R: La Dade Kotopon Municipality take steps to address flooding and sanitation

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of La Dade Kotopon Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region, Alfredos Nii Anyetei, has announced initiatives to address flooding and sanitation issues in the municipality.

Speaking at Ghana's 69th Independence Day celebration, Mr. Anyetei emphasised the importance of environmental conservation and sanitation.

He mentioned some key initiatives, such as  

- Dredging of the Grecian Lagoon to prevent flooding

- Decongestion of areas around the lagoon and demolition of illegal structures

- Implementation of sanitation by-laws and prosecution of offenders

- Fencing off  container sites and transfer stations to manage waste

- Engagement with stakeholders, including media houses and assembly members, to promote sanitation

He also spoke about Other Development Projects like the 

- Construction of drains and walkways to improve infrastructure

- Removal of illegal structures encroaching on roads and earmarked areas

- Skills training programmes for youth to address unemployment and drug abuse

- Support for Persons With Disabilities, including timely disbursement of funds.

The MCE emphasised that 2026 is a "year of action" for the municipality, with a focus on improving sanitation, infrastructure, and community development.
