A 23-member Ghanaian delegation led by the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has arrived in Omaha, United States, to begin a series of engagements under the Ghana–Nebraska Livestock Modernization Partnership.

The delegation was warmly received by former Nebraska State Senator Ken Schilz, who is also co-founder of the Ghana–Nebraska Agribusiness Growth and Trade Relations Chamber.

The visit forms part of a week-long programme of educational tours and strategic meetings aimed at strengthening agricultural cooperation, promoting trade, and facilitating technology transfer between Ghana and Nebraska.

On Monday, May 19, the delegation commenced its first round of facility visits, touring several key livestock and food production sites, including Prairieland Dairy, Omaha Halal Live Market, and Lincoln Premium Poultry.

The visits offered the Ghanaian team first-hand exposure to modern dairy herd management systems, sustainable milk production practices, halal meat marketing structures, vertically integrated poultry production, biosecurity protocols, logistics operations, and large-scale food processing techniques.

The engagements are intended to deepen commercial partnerships and enhance investment opportunities within the livestock and agribusiness sectors.

Today, the delegation is expected to continue its programme with additional visits to Weber Feedyard and Bruning Farms as part of efforts to expand collaboration between Ghana and Nebraska’s agricultural industries.

The Ministry says the partnership is expected to support trade development, strengthen private sector linkages, and enhance agricultural productivity through knowledge exchange and innovation.
