Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the West Akim Municipality in the Eastern Region, Seth Oduro Boadu, has called on delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to rally behind a “winnable” presidential candidate ahead of the party’s 2028 general election bid, describing former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the strongest option.

Mr Oduro Boadu made the remarks on Saturday after casting his ballot in the NPP presidential primary at the Salvation Army School in Asamankese, the designated polling centre for the Lower West Akim Constituency.

According to him, the party’s chances in the 2028 elections will depend largely on its ability to present a candidate with broad national appeal and proven electoral strength.

In his view, Dr. Bawumia best fits that profile and offers the NPP its clearest path to victory.

He urged delegates to put the collective interest of the party above personal or factional considerations, stressing the need for unity after the primary.

Mr. Oduro Boadu also appealed for a peaceful and transparent electoral process, noting that the credibility of the primary would play a crucial role in strengthening the party ahead of the next general elections.
