Nana Akomea urges NPP to reconcile with Alan Kyerematen ahead of elections
Nana Akomea, a prominent member of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign, has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should seriously consider reaching out to former party heavyweight Alan Kyerematen to rebuild and expand support for the upcoming elections.
Speaking on Joy Prime's PM Express, the former STC boss noted that if the former vice president were to seek his counsel, he would strongly advocate for moves to reconcile with the former Trade Minister.
When asked if such an outreach was a realistic possibility, Akomea replied that it should be on the cards, explaining that a political party aiming to win over opposition NDC supporters and neutrals should first prioritize reconnecting with former members who already share the party's roots.
He described those who left the party as part of the NPP’s natural constituencies and suggested that the passage of time may have softened the tensions and misunderstandings that originally led to the divisions.
Akomea affirmed that the time is right to bring Kyerematen back, asserting that any such return would ultimately strengthen the party.
Although he clarified that he has not personally discussed this specific matter with Dr Bawumia, Akomea maintained that he would advise in favour of it if consulted as part of the inner circle.
He concluded that if the NPP is willing to engage with political opponents who have no inherent affinity for the party, then reconciling with former loyalists remains a sensible political strategy.
