People’s Forum to engage citizens over concerns about high electricity costs today
A civil engagement platform known as the People’s Forum is set to begin a nationwide engagement to gather public views on concerns over the rising cost of electricity and its impact on the cost of living.
Miracles Aboagye, Spokesperson for former Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) say the initiative will provide an opportunity for citizens to express their frustrations about electricity tariffs, which many believe are contributing significantly to the high cost of goods and services across the country.
According to him, millions of Ghanaians have in recent months complained that the cost of power remains high despite reports of improving macroeconomic indicators.
He argues that expensive electricity continues to affect businesses and households, making it difficult for prices of goods and services to decline.
The People’s Forum said the engagement, scheduled to begin today, will focus on listening to citizens, documenting their concerns and amplifying their voices on the issue.
The organisers are also encouraging the public to participate actively in the discussions and support calls for the government to urgently review electricity tariffs in order to help ease the rising cost of living in the country.
