Two MPs file fresh petitions seeking removal of EC Chair
Two Members of Parliament, Fred Agbenyo and Thomas Tsekpo, have initiated fresh petitions calling for the removal of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Madam Jean Mensa.
Mr. Agbenyo, MP for Guan, announced his intention to petition against the Electoral Commission boss in a Facebook post on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, citing what he described as unresolved grievances stemming from the 2020 general elections.
According to him, the people of Guan and Hohoe constituencies suffered injustices during the electoral process, which he believes have not been adequately addressed.
He further questioned the competence of the EC Chair, stating that she was not fit to continue in office and should be removed.
The Hohoe MP, Mr. Tsekpo, is also reported to have supported the move, aligning with calls for accountability at the Electoral Commission.
The development is expected to reignite debate over the conduct of the 2020 elections and the performance of the Electoral Commission, particularly in areas where disputes arose.
