Greater Accra receives 2,400 laptops for one million coders programme rollout
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has received 2,400 laptops from the Greater Accra Regional Office of Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) on behalf of Members of Parliament in the region.
The devices are expected to be distributed to MPs across 23 selected constituencies as part of preparations for the rollout of Phase One of the One Million Coders Programme (OMCP), scheduled to commence on May 4, 2026.
The initiative forms part of a broader national agenda to equip Ghanaian youth with critical digital skills to thrive in a technology-driven global economy.
The Minister expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang for their support in making the intervention possible.
The programme is being spearheaded by the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations under the leadership of Samuel Nartey George, with the goal of training one million young Ghanaians in digital competencies.
Ms. Ocloo noted that the initiative presents significant opportunities for young people in the region, adding that it will help deepen digital inclusion, promote innovation and strengthen the country’s human capital base.
She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that no young person is left behind as efforts intensify to build a digitally resilient and future-ready Ghana.
