Asante Kotoko launches probe into alleged bribery attempt
Asante Kotoko has initiated a formal investigation following claims of an attempted bribery involving some of its players before the team’s last 2025/26 Ghana Premier League encounter against Swedru All Blacks at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
According to reports, an unnamed official reportedly tried to sway certain squad members.
Thankfully, defender Patrick Asiedu quickly notified the club’s management, which triggered swift internal action.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, the club revealed that its board and technical team held a meeting with players on May 25. The session focused on the team’s underwhelming overall campaign while also addressing the new bribery allegations that emerged just before the final fixture.
Kotoko confirmed it has now launched a thorough investigation to reveal the full details and hold anyone found responsible accountable. The club specifically commended Patrick Asiedu for demonstrating strong professionalism and integrity by reporting the matter through the right channels.
“Asante Kotoko treats issues of this nature with the utmost seriousness,” the statement emphasized. Further warning was given that any individual proven guilty will face appropriate disciplinary measures once the investigation is completed.
Despite the challenging season, management reiterated its dedication to upholding high standards of discipline, professionalism, and integrity at the club.
Asante Kotoko however wrapped up their campaign with a disappointing 2-1 loss to Swedru All Blacks.
