Carlos Queiroz ideal for Ghana's 2026 World Cup journey — PROSSU Ghana
The Progressive Sports Supporters Union of Ghana (PROSSU GHANA) has backed the Ghana Football Association’s decision to appoint Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 World Cup, following the dismissal of Coach Otto Addo.
The Union says Queiroz’s experience and pedigree make him the right man to lead Ghana to the tournament.
His résumé includes a stint with Spanish giants Real Madrid, qualifying Iran for multiple World Cups, serving as assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, and guiding Egypt to an AFCON final.
PROSSU GHANA Secretary, Mr. Prince Boateng, made the remarks during the Union’s thanksgiving service at the Kasoa AME Zion Church in the Central Region.
The service was held to express gratitude to God and seek spiritual support, guidance, and protection for the nation, the Black Stars, and the Union as they prepare for the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Head Pastor of Kasoa- Odupongkpehe AME Zion Church, Rev. Isaac Amonu, urged members of the Union to remain disciplined and adhere to rules as they rally behind the Black Stars.
He also advised the playing body to follow the coach’s instructions and maintain camp discipline to ensure a successful campaign.
Mrs. Leticia Effah Owiredua, an executive member of the Union, appealed to Ghanaians to pray and throw their full support behind the Black Stars and the Union on the journey to the World Cup.
