Abigail Quartey, the woman who shattered Ghana’s boxing glass ceiling, has officially hit the open market. The 29-year-old trailblazer announced that she is now a free agent, actively seeking a new manager and promoter to steer her career as she looks to build on her historic world title win.

Despite holding a major belt, the super bantamweight fighter confirmed in a public statement that she is currently without professional representation.

Quartey expressed her readiness for a fresh start, emphasising that her dedication to the sport remains absolute as she hunts for a team capable of matching her high-reaching goals.

“I am a free agent boxer and looking for a manager and a promoter to work with,” Quartey stated.

“At the moment, I don't have a contract with any management or promotion company. I have dedicated my life to boxing and have big goals in this sport.”

Quartey’s name was etched into the record books in November 2024 when she defeated Britain’s Sangeeta Birdi to claim the Women’s International Boxing Federation (WIBF) super bantamweight title.

The victory made her Ghana’s first-ever female world boxing champion and the 11th Ghanaian overall to reach the pinnacle of the sport.

The championship bout was originally promoted by Alex Ntiamoah’s Box Office Sports Promotions, but the champion has since seen a period of inactivity, having yet to defend her title.

By declaring her free agency, Quartey appears focused on securing the logistical and promotional backing necessary to return to the ring and defend her status as a world titleholder.
