Former Ghana international Augustine Arhinful has dismissed suggestions that Otto Addo lost control of the Black Stars dressing room before his dismissal, stating that there is no concrete evidence to support claims of widespread indiscipline.

In an interview with JoySports, Arhinful argued that the responsibility for the team’s recent struggles should not fall solely on Addo.

Instead, he called for an assessment of the entire support structure and the leadership responsible for his appointment.

"We can’t say Otto alone failed," Arhinful noted. "It’s not just about hiring a coach. The people brought in to support him must also be assessed. What was their pedigree?"

The 51-year-old former striker raised concerns about the decision-making process behind national team appointments, urging for more transparency regarding the vision presented by coaching staff during the hiring phase.

He questioned what specific discussions and guidance were provided by the football leadership when the team’s results first began to decline.

"When results were not going well, what guidance was given? What meetings were held to correct the direction?" Arhinful asked, suggesting that structured engagement might have addressed performance issues earlier.

He warned against concluding that camp indiscipline was the root cause of the team's poor form without verifiable proof.

Otto Addo was recently relieved of his duties following a disappointing run of results.

The Ghana Football Association has since moved quickly to fill the vacancy, unveiling veteran Portuguese manager Carlos Queiroz on April 23.

Queiroz will now lead the Black Stars’ preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
