Carlos Queiroz sacked as Black Stars coach
Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has been sacked following the national team's defeat to The Gambia in the 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifier.
The Black Stars was beaten by 4:2 marking it one of Ghana's humiliating moments in football history.
Announcing his dismissal as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) terminates their contract, Carlos Queiroz said: “This was not an easy decision, but both parties agreed that, under the present circumstances, ending our professional relationship was the most appropriate course of action, with the interests of Ghana, the Black Stars and Ghanaian football above everything else.”
“Despite our commitment and efforts, the necessary conditions were not fully established, and our recent performance added to the decision to bring this journey to an end,” he added and urged Ghanaians to believe in the players.
“Believe in these players. Protect them. Support them,” he stressed, adding “the talent and potential are there. With unity, support and the right environment, this generation can achieve great things for Ghana”.
